Seat Snug Child Stability Device

The Seat Snug is a  great new product on the market that enhances both the safety and comfort of children riding in booster seats.

Children in booster seats are at risk of injury and death due to seatbelt slack (looseness). A standard seatbelt allows slack to develop in the lap belt portion while children (or adults!) are riding in a vehicle. Seatbelt slack is acknowledged in the auto industry as a major contributor to injuries and deaths in vehicular accidents.

By gently securing a child while riding in a booster seat, SeatSnug® substantially eliminates bouncing, rocking, tipping, falling over, submarining, and ejection, thus reducing the potential for injuries and death in vehicular accidents. At the same time, SeatSnug® improves child stability and comfort.

Lower the risk of SIDS

A new study says that running a fan in a baby’s room can lower the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDs) by 72%.  The theory is that by circulating the air within their room the infant is less likely to breath in exhaled carbon dioxide, which is suspected as a cause of SIDS.  Babies should still be placed on their backs when sleeping.  That change has cut the SIDS cases in half since 1992.

Other recommendations include having a firm mattress, removing soft plush bedding or stuffed animals which can block the airway, and to avoid overheating the child’s room.

So turn on the ceiling fan or other stand-alone fan in your child’s room, or consider getting them.  This simple solution could save their life.  And don’t forget to secure the fan’s electrical cords and to place small fans out of reach.
